“I have learned now that while those who speak about one’s miseries usually hurt. Those who keep silent hurt more.” C. S. Lewis

Having experienced loss, major life transitions, blended families, and living in different cultures, I have gained personal insight to the challenges that can rock one’s world. I have recognized the importance of having open, authentic, and nurturing support during challenging times. This is what has led me to pursue my work as a therapist.

My life philosophy is that we are created to be in relationship. When our relationship with ourselves or others suffer, we are not living our best lives. My approach to therapy considers one’s past, present, and future; seeing each person as a unique and intricate individual with possibilities for change and growth. As an emerging art psychotherapist, I believe we interact with the world and others through our senses. This somatic approach is the cornerstone of my practice.

ABOUT SHAUNA

I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies at the University of California Los Angeles. I was a professional ballet and modern dancer from the age of fourteen, dancing in companies both nationally and internationally until the birth of our second child. My love for dance and movement brought me to Antioch University where I am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Dance/Movement Therapy along with a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy. My husband and I were both born and raised in the Pasadena area where we still reside.
