“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”

― Maya Angelou

Sometimes we get stuck and not sure how to move forward.  At other times, life appears to be moving along fine, but something within us is disconnected.  It may seem like it’s not okay to express these feelings and thoughts.  That is a frightening and lonely experience. When success is defined so powerfully by image, it can feel intimidating or even unsafe to explore our own vulnerability.  For whatever parts of you that remain hidden, I offer a space that is wide open with faith, hope and love.

My approach to therapy is that growth and healing happen in relationship. Within the therapeutic relationship I will pay attention to the uniqueness of each client and their story. Types of therapy may include cognitive behavioral, family systems, and mindfulness-based therapy.

ABOUT MAIJA

Maija is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist from the Pacific Northwest.  She earned her Bachelor degree from Pacific Lutheran University in French, and her Masters in Counseling and Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology.  Maija grew up speaking Swedish and traveling regularly to Sweden to visit family.  She and her husband and children spent the last four years living in France. These bi-cultural experiences helped develop her ability to see life from a variety of different perspectives.  Other previous experience includes working with foster kids in a therapeutic foster program, and high school students who were considered at-risk.
