“Connection is why we’re here; it is what gives purpose and meaning to our lives.”
-Brené Brown
The quality of our most valuable relationships deeply affects our lives as a whole. When you and your partner are out of sync, or there is a lot of conflict in the home with your kids, stress levels soar and nothing is left untouched.
The loneliness experienced in a partnership can be disorienting. We choose a partner whom we hope and likely fantasize will “get us” completely. When this inevitably fails we may wonder if we are totally alone in the world after all!
The journey of raising kids can also be disorienting. We may have had certain expectations about what kind of parent we’d be, or expectations for how our kid should behave. And nothing is going as planned!
The more I live, the more I’ve become aware that we can’t control our partners or our kids. But we can learn how to better connect with ourselves and consequently with the people we love the most. Renewed connection is like a sigh of relief, a warm hug, a mug of tea – soothing and recalibrating.
In working with me, you can expect that I will spend time listening deeply and observing, in order to help you navigate difficult conflicts and behaviors. I truly believe that we are all doing the best we can with the skills and supports we’ve been given. I operate from this positive core belief, while also hoping to help you identify areas of missing skills and supports along the way, in order to make real and lasting changes to your life.
