“Compassion asks us to go where it hurts, to enter into the places of pain, to share in brokenness, fear, confusion, and anguish… Compassion means full immersion in the condition of being human.”

– Henri Nouwen

From the very beginning, our need to be truly seen, heard, and understood shapes our sense of safety and how we come to know ourselves. I am aware of how often the ache that brings someone to therapy has been quietly carried for years. It may be grief without language, early wounds that linger just beneath the surface, or a persistent sense of disconnection that subtly shapes how we move through the world. And yet, alongside these long-held patterns, there are also present-day struggles just as real and immediate: anxiety that tightens the chest, depression that debilitates, the feeling of being stuck, or the rawness of relational pain and identity questions. Frank Lake once described a kind of suffering that exists beyond memory, “a state of infinite, unending distress… present as the first and total experience of their cosmos.” I hold that image close because it speaks to the depth of what can be felt, even when it cannot be fully named.

I recognize that no two people carry the same story, and no two journeys are the same. My hope is to offer a grounded, compassionate presence as we make space for what longs to be seen and understood. Therapy, to me, is not about fixing. It is about slowing down, listening closely, and honoring the complexity of your experience. We will move at your pace, together, toward the places that are asking for attention. In that space of safety, curiosity, and care, understanding can deepen—with it, the possibility for meaningful and lasting change.
