Therapy is different for everyone. For me, the heart of therapy is creating a connecting experience with my clients. The therapy session provides the environment, space and time necessary to feel connected and heard by another person temporarily free from everyday responsibilities and busyness. As a therapist, creating this space is key for me.
It’s in this therapeutic space that my clients can process their challenges in a safe environment with me present to guide, instruct, or help hold the emotional weight of whatever life has brought to the client’s attention. I find whatever the presenting issue is—a crisis, an addiction, a life transition, or a desire for self-discovery—the therapeutic process is an excellent way of entering into a place of empowerment.
I work with adult individuals and couples. I enjoy working with both Christian and non-Christian clients.
I have special training and experience working with those who struggle with sexual dysfunction, pornography, sex addiction, and sexual identity issues such as a same sex attraction. I also have extensive training working with post-911 veterans through the Department of Defense, Massachusetts Memorial General Hospital and The Soldier’s Project. Before my career as a therapist, I worked for years in the entertainment industry and understand the anxiety that comes from that world for artists, actors and various performers. Anxiety comes in many forms, not only in the home and workplace but also in sport activities. As a trained martial artist and have known the pressure of athletic performance anxiety and that feeling of fear that interferes with being the best I can be. In that vein, I work with those who have self-esteem and body image issues. I have been a Christian since I was in my early twenties and during these years, I have worked in the church in many capacities, including leadership roles. Because of those roles, I have a special desire to work with individuals and couples in leadership positions and to be a blessing to those who serve others.
I am married, have children and one grandchild.
I look forward to working with you.
