Marijane has over 20 years of experience helping individuals and couples through relationship disharmony and isolation, honoring what she considers to be our biochemical need for connection. Our relationships spring from our ability to “fall in love with ourselves.” When we truly do, everything changes for the better and our relationships flourish. We can’t alter our partner (or boss, co-worker, or child) but when we transform how we hold and perceive them—that is, when we transform our beliefs and own our part in things—radical shifts occur.
Marijane received her MA in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2011 from Pacific Oaks College. Prior to entering the mainstream of psychology, she was a leader and facilitator in the human potential movement of the 1980s, helping thousands of people throughout the US and the United Kingdom overcome their obstacles and reach greater capacities for fulfillment, joy, connection, self-acceptance and authenticity.
Her personal life experience includes long-term marriage, adoption, infidelity, impending divorce, terminal illness, death, grief and the isolation of raising children alone. MJ credits her resilience to her attention to Body, Mind and Spirit. She is presently pursuing a degree as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and believes that addressing one’s underlying physical imbalances is essential for mental health. She drinks green juice, eats organic food, takes an array of supplements that feed her brains’ neurotransmitters and exercises to produce healthy endorphins. Also, she believes that many emotions stay trapped in the body and uses Somatic therapy as a way to discover them. For the mind she keeps up with the radical changes of the 21st century and strives to be tech-savvy. She advocates setting goals, reframing negative beliefs, facing fears and obstacles, takings risks and focusing on strengths. Connection to spirit starts by listening to the whisper of intuition achieved through mindfulness, meditation, self-awareness, the power of appreciation, forgiveness and learning how to be in non-judgmental, conscious relationships.
Marijane is a registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern IMF #67541 under the supervision of Curtis Miller, PsyD, DMin, MFT #31636.
